NDRANGHETA ARRESTS IN REGGIO CALABRIA

(ANSA) - Reggio Calabria, March 11 - Italian police on Friday arrested 33 suspected members of a clan in the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia in Reggio Calabria and seized assets worth 60 million euros.

Police said the Ficara-Latella clan controlled public works tenders in the city and was also eyeing major contracts in Milan in view of the Expo 2015.

The clan was also responsible for a car found full of weapons and explosives in Reggio Calabria on January 21, 2010, the day Italian President Giorgio Napolitano visited the city.
