(ANSA) - Caserta, March 11 - A mayor near Naples was arrested Friday on suspicion of allowing a clan in the Camorra mafia to keep hold of assets that had officially been confiscated.
Giorgio Magliocca, a member of Premier Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom party, was detained on suspicion of helping the mafia.
Magliocca, mayor of the town of Pignataro Maggiore near Caserta, is a former consultant to the telecommunications ministry and also an ex-consultant of Rome Mayor Gianni Aleman.
