Cleaning up Palermo's Black Market

Two distinct measures have led to the seizure of counterfeit DVDs, an arrest and two complaints. The first in Via Maqueda in the heart of the capital, where the police station of Palermo's center was surprised by two offenders, GA, 24 year old and 32 year old GS and sold over 20 DVDs and CDs without SIAE.

The second being a better father Carini where the military has apprehended CD's, affected Palermo aged 19, residing in Misilmeri. He accompanied the police station was arrested on charges of illegal reproduction and sale of material covered copyright law, with the seizure of about 400 CDs and DVDs without SIAE.

It is a fact that many of the market stalls on the streets of Palermo (not all), offer their customer a varied selection of very realistic counterfeit goods, not only DVD's and CD's, which are often so obviously counterfeit, but Clothing, handbags, perfumes and whole range of other items. Of course most of us are guilty of looking out for a bargain, but when you consider where these items came from, where they were made and by whom. We have to make a moral choice to buy or not. Of course we could appeal to the genuine makers of products that we see on the cat walks and are displayed in branded shops, to reduce the cost of these items making them more accessible to those who cannot normally afford them, and who, as a result of the high prices, have to buy such items as counterfeit or bootleg', surly it would be in their interest.
Counterfeit goods represent a large proportion of income for organised criminal gangs globally and despite efforts to hone the Counterfeit Goods Regulation's to prevent goods from entering countries, the goods are still getting through.

When we cannot expect the citizen to be so responsible for making an ethical choice alone, Perhaps to attempt to support the fight against organised crime, and foster an ethical mentality in the citizens globally, Branded companies can support societal and ethical consumerism by reducing their often very pricey goods so that more people can buy them.
